Patryk Klimala has posted a heartfelt message on Instagram to Celtic supporters after the Polish striker completed a permanent move to MLS side New York Red Bulls – less than 18 months after completing a move to Parkhead.

Klimala, 22, scored three goals in 28 appearances during a struggling Celtic stint that saw him fail to get regular game time since Neil Lennon chose to splash out £3.5million to sign him from Polish side Jagiellonia Bialystok.

Despite Odsonne Edouard failing to reach his best form earlier in the season and both Albian Ajeti and Leigh Griffiths failing to offer adequate cover – Klimala failed to play more than 24 times, starting just four times.

There is expected to be a clear out at Celtic this summer, with the likes of Ryan Christie, Kris Ajer, Edouard, Ajeti, Griffiths and multiple others to be sold – while loan players Diego Laxalt, Mo Elyounoussi and Shane Duffy will exit.

Klimala has joined a side that is managed by ex-Barnsley manager Gerhard Struber – along with ex-Celtic players Cameron Palmer and Andrew Gutman in the squad. The MLS season began with a 2-1 defeat to Sporting Kansas.

Klimala was not involved in the first match, but he has since posted a heartfelt message to Celtic fans on Instagram in which he tells supporters that he hopes to see Celtic win the title back off Rangers next season.
