Patrick Bamford should be axed despite previous Leeds heroics v West Brom

Leeds United host West Brom on Tuesday night in the Championship and it’s vital they send out a message to the rest of the division with a win at Elland Road.

The Whites are thought by many to be the promotion favourites this campaign, but have just one point from their last two league fixtures and the worry is that inconsistency will once again plague their season.

Marcelo Bielsa’s team sit fourth in the table as it stands and are preparing to face leaders West Brom, who sit two points above them.

It’s still early in the season, but the Yorkshire giants could do with a big win to lift spirits around the camp.

Bielsa is continuing to stand by the same team, but he should axe Patrick Bamford on Tuesday night as it’s the end product in the team that are letting them down right now.

Bamford has four goals in 10 games across all competitions so far this season and clearly has the faith of the manager after starting all nine league fixtures.

The 26-year-old has seen his goalscoring touch go missing though in recent weeks and he looks a player out of confidence that is taking his chances.

He massively struggled leading the line in the weekend’s defeat to Charlton Athletic and surely he can’t just keep retaining his position.

Arsenal loanee Eddie Nketiah, 20, is a hungry young striker desperate to impress and bringing the natural finisher in against an unbeaten West Brom would make sense.

Bamford did terrorise the Baggies last season and should have fond memories of playing against them.

The left-footed striker scored two goals in a league appearances against them, with both low driven finishes inside the penalty area.

He is lacking the clinical touch right now in the final third and surely Bielsa has to make a change for a crunch fixture.
