Patrick Bamford admitted post-match after Leeds United’s win over Fulham that he was “kicking himself” for one moment before his eventual goal.
The Whites secured a rare win in London by beating Fulham 2-1 at Craven Cottage in the Premier League.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side moved up to 39 points in the league, and surely they’ve secured their top-flight status for another year.
Bamford opened the scoring in the first half with a superb finish inside the box, before eventually assisting teammate Raphinha in the second period for the winner.
But the Leeds striker did admit he was extremely frustrated with a decision he made prior to his goal.
The 27-year-old centre-forward unsuccessfully opted to try back-heel the ball to Tyler Roberts in an attacking move, but looking back he feels he should have took the shot on goal.
“I should have scored earlier on in the game. I heard Tyler call and for some reason I back heeled it,” Bamford said, as quoted by the club’s official website.
“I was kicking myself for that, I should have shot then, the first goal was important tonight.”

TBR’s View:
If Bamford wanted to send a message out to Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate after missing out on the latest England squad for March’s internationals, then his Friday display was perfect.
Many expected him to earn his first call-up to the senior squad, but it was Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins who got the nod ahead of him.
Bamford can be extremely delighted with his individual this season.
There were so many that doubted whether he could be the leading frontman at Elland Road in the Premier League.
But he’s now scored 14 goals and set up seven assists in his 29 league appearances.
