Leeds United striker, Patrick Bamford, has revealed that David Luiz ‘trampled all over him’ when they played Arsenal earlier this season.

Speaking on the Peter Crouch Podcast this week, Bamford opened up about a range of issues and encounters from Leeds’ first season back in the Premier League. Among them, were discussions about tough opponents.

The Premier League has a number of top defenders and experienced campaigners in the ranks. And none more so than David Luiz, who has had two spells with Chelsea as well as his most recent spell with Arsenal.

And Bamford revealed that Luiz is not as nice as he can seem, admitting he got some brutal treatment off the Gunner star earlier this season.

“To be fair, David Luiz, who I knew through back in time at Chelsea. When we played them at Arsenal the first ball I kicked him on the ankle and it was accidental,” Bamford said.

“I was like ‘sorry bro’ and he was like ‘don’t worry, don’t worry, it’s fine’. He was chatting to me. Next time he got the ball he absolutely clattered me. He didn’t just put me on the floor, he trampled all over me. I was like you dirty b*d. You’ve just told me it’s alright and we’re brothers!”.

Luiz iz hardly known for being a saint. Despite his open and infectious demeanour, he’s picked up four red cards and 41 yellows during his time in the PL, per the Premier League’s official website.

Bamford then, former teammate or not, was just another one for Luiz to leave his mark on.

TBR View: Bamford will be better for this sort of treatment

There’s no denying Patrick Bamford has shut a lot of haters up this season. He was always targeted by opposition fans for apparently being weak or not strong enough to lead the line.

But he’s done that brilliantly this season and the clashes with the likes of Luiz will do him good. The Leeds star has been superb, and Luiz leaving one on him is probably sign of respect if anything.
