Patrick Bamford has not featured for Leeds United since August due to a knee injury, but is certainly on the road to recovery after playing for the Under-23s on Friday.

The Whites centre-forward arrived in the summer from Middlesbrough and is yet to start a league fixture for them, but was making some impressive cameos off the bench before his injury setback.

He also scored his first Leeds goal in a Carabao Cup fixture, but has had to watch on from the sidelines for the last few months.

But surely his comeback for the Under-23s means he is nearing a return to the first team and supporters will be desperate to see him back in senior action.

The striker will now need to build his fitness and strength back up, but will he return in time to help out during the December run-in?

Leeds have six Championship fixtures during the month to play and the squad is going to be tested with some congested dates around Christmas.

Manager Marcelo Bielsa could certainly do with an ace up his sleeve in attack and Bamford may well be the answer.

Bamford has shown in the past he can be a quality goalscorer at Championship level and is a brilliant option to have challenging first-choice striker Kemar Roofe.

Bamford has been a forgotten figure watching from the sidelines Leeds climb to second in the league table, but can have a colossal role to play in the promotion bid.
