Patrick Bamford lauds Illan Meslier; tells incredible Barcelona star story

Patrick Bamford has told The Leeds United Podcast that Illan Meslier has been unreal lately, before telling a remarkable story concerning Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele and his admiration for the Whites.

Meslier’s stock continues to rise with almost every appearance. And he produced one of his best performances yet in Leeds’s most recent clash.

The Frenchman made two outstanding saves at Fulham. He also seemed a lot more decisive and commanding in a display that highlighted what a prospect the Whites have on their hands.

Bamford lauded his form. And he went on to outline just how popular the 21-year-old is around the club.

“He’s actually unreal,” he told The Leeds United Podcast, when asked about his form. “He’s so funny as well because he’s really down to earth, but when he’s taking the p***, he’ll pretend he’s really big time and just pretend that he’s too big time to take shots against in goal, just winding people up.

Bamford then went on to tell an incredible story concerning another high-profile Leeds fan, after Meslier recently attempted to secure a memento for him.

“After the Fulham game he said: ‘I need your shirt please’. I said: ‘yeah, that’s fine, who for?’ He said: ‘Dembele, the guy from Barcelona. He wants yours and Kalvin’s shirts because he’s a massive fan of Leeds, he watches every game’.”

It is not difficult to see why high-profile players such as Dembele may be big admirers of Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

They play an exhilarating brand of football and have taken little time to adapt to life back in the Premier League.

And Leeds fans may be hoping that that admiration pays off further down the line when the Whites potentially attempt to bring more marquee names to Elland Road in the transfer market.
