Patrick Bamford has told The Leeds United Podcast that he is so happy to be on the same team as Gjanni Alioski as he joked about how annoying the North Macedonia international can be.
Alioski has certainly secured cult-hero status at Elland Road. The 28-year-old has been at the centre of a number of clips from on and off the pitch that have subsequently gone viral.
And when coupled with some of his outstanding performances for the Whites, it is not difficult to see why Leeds fans hold Alioski in such high regard.
And it appears that he is just as popular amongst his teammates. When asked about what the wide-man is actually like day-to-day in training and away from the pitch, Bamford hinted that he is left speechless just as often as the supporters seem to be.
He told The Leeds United Podcast: “He’s one of them guys that when he’s on your team, you’re so happy that he’s on your team even though sometimes you look at him and think, ‘what on earth are you doing?’
“But if he was on the opposition team, you’d hate it. He just winds people up. He’s always talking, he’s just annoying. If you’re not his teammate, he’d do your head in.”
It is certainly not difficult to see why Marcelo Bielsa seems to have so much faith in Alioski – who earns £15,000-a-week, according to Spotrac. He is a player who is capable of superb displays in a number of roles.
But he is also clearly a player whose presence can have a fantastic impact on the squad – even if his methods can tend to be incredibly unconventional.
