Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has posted a picture of himself and his children on Instagram at the Emirates Stadium after the Arsenal skipper signed a new three-year contract – and Patrice Evra has responded with a heartfelt comment.
Aubameyang, 31, has ended a summer-long saga by committing his future to the north London club – despite being continuously linked with the likes of Barcelona, Inter Milan and even some Premier League clubs.
The Gunners captain has signed a new deal to the delight of supporters, who were concerned that he may turn out to be another example of Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil or Alexis Sanchez in which they stay on a big contract – or leave on the cheap.
Mikel Arteta’s revival of a disappointing Arsenal under Unai Emery has gone some way to convincing Aubameyang, with Arsenal much-better placed to launch an attack on the top four. He posted pictures from the Emirates with his children.
Recent silverware will have also tempted Aubameyang, with the Gunners securing FA Cup glory, qualification for the Europa League and then the Community Shield against Liverpool. The signs are bright at Arsenal.
Indeed, Evra put aside the rivalry between Manchester United – where he earned iconic status during his time at Old Trafford – and Arsenal, to send Aubameyang a heartfelt message on Instagram.
