Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has been asked what he makes of Nicolas Pepe’s start to life at Arsenal in light of his own experiences coming from Ligue 1.
On Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, at 7:45pm, 21/10, Evra said Pepe has the quality to succeed at Arsenal but needs to realise the demands of English football are totally different.
When asked about Pepe, Evra stated: “The big price tag, it doesn’t help. You have to give time to Pepe, I believe in this player. He just needs to realise that the Premier League is completely different. He needs to be stronger.
“He should go in the gym, build up a massive body. You will see, because he’s talented. But he’s under pressure and I want to see that he’s mentally strong enough like myself. Let’s see if mentally Pepe will be ready. It’s a new world.”

TBR’s View – Emery likely to be banking on Lacazette and Aubameyang to take heat off Pepe
Unai Emery fielded his three best attackers together in the 2-2 north London derby draw, but in that match, Alexandre Lacazette got injured.
That has put more burden on Pepe and he hasn’t been able to deliver. Emery must be hoping that getting his three best attackers together again can do the trick and help Pepe fire again.
Otherwise, the weaknesses that came up against Sheffield United will reappear again and again.
