‘Passenger’: Rangers fans ripped into Lassana Coulibaly after Spartak draw

Lassana Coulibaly completed 90 minutes in the home draw against Spartak Moscow on Thursday night – and some of the Rangers fans on Twitter heavily criticised him for his individual performance.

The Light Blues were held to a goalless draw at Ibrox and it’s the first time they’ve failed to score at home this season.

Steven Gerrard’s side will rue missed opportunities in front of goal, but are showing the signs in Europe that they are making progress and that they belong to be on the biggest stage.

The result means the Scottish giants stay top of their Europa League group with five points from three games, but they are involved in an extremely competitive group as four teams are separated by three points.

Coulibaly came in for some criticism from a selection of Rangers fans after he missed a golden opportunity in front of goal, but he was also accused of being sluggish throughout.

The 22-year-old central midfielder is an ever-present in Gerrard’s XI and failed to have the same impact in the final third as usual against Spartak.

His season has already been disrupted by injury and he’s yet to quite get back to his dazzling best since his return to Gerrard’s side.
