Pascal Struijk not wishing to tempt fate regarding Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United future

Leeds United youngster Pascal Struijk has been discussing his recent form and emergence into the Whites first-team.

The Dutchman has performed brilliantly at the end of the season, filling in for the injured Kalvin Phillips at holding midfield.

His displays have reignited his career at Leeds and there is no doubt that Bielsa is a key reason why.

Speaking to Algemeen Dagblad this week, Struijk explained his joy at playing against Wayne Rooney and hopes of playing for the Netherlands under-21s, highlighting his previous partnership with Matthijs de Ligt at Ajax.

But he was also asked about the future of Leeds United’s enigmatic head coach.

“I dare not say it,” Struijk stated when asked if Bielsa would stay. “He is of course a bit mysterious, but really loved by the players and the supporters. He only speaks Spanish, but through his assistants, he can perfectly convey his message to the players. He demands full intensity on every workout.”

The Argentine has transformed Leeds United since his arrival at Elland Road but is still out of contract in the coming weeks. Reports from The Sun have suggested that Lionel Messi wants Marcelo Bielsa to get the Barcelona job, so Leeds must tie up his contract as soon as possible.

Struijk’s comments likely echo those of the entire Leeds United first-team and hopefully, they have nothing to worry about.
