Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Pascal Chimbonda has implored Christian Eriksen to consider staying at the club.
The Danish playmaker gave an interview to Ekstrabladet in which he said he wanted to experience a new challenge.
The 27-year-old is into the final year of his contract now and the ace could still move on with the European transfer window still open.
The likes of Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Juventus have been linked but no concrete offers have yet come in.
On Saturday Eriksen was left on the bench against Aston Villa for the club’s Premier League opener, but came on in the second half and showed his quality.
Speaking about the situation on Stadium Astro, Chimbonda made a plea to Eriksen to think about staying.
He said: “Eriksen is not a bad player who will cause trouble in the dressing room. It would benefit him if he stayed and did another great season in a Spurs shirt and maybe get the move he wants.
“I would tell him stay at Spurs, play your best football and show them how good you are and keep going like this.”
Being ex-Spurs Chimbonda is obviously keen to see Eriksen stay put.
Unfortunately for him and the fans, the midfielder doesn’t really have anything to prove having developed into one of the best playmakers in Europe over the past six years.
Tottenham have assembled a great squad and 2019/20 could be the season they end their trophy drought.
Surely Eriksen has the patience to play out one more season for a team that has great potential to challenge for trophies, before moving on as he enters his prime.
