Tottenham have been working on a deal to sign Romero from Atalanta and appear to be edging closer to a transfer.

Indeed, Romano claimed last night that Tottenham had made progress with agreeing terms over Romero.

And Spurs fans were very excited by the latest claims by the Italian transfer reporter.

Understandable excitement

Tottenham supporters’ excitement over a potential deal for Romero is understandable.

The 23-year-old was one of the stand out defenders in Serie A last year and looks to have a huge amount of potential.

If he was to join Tottenham he would surely immediately improve Nuno’s side’s defence, after their struggles last term.

Tottenham failed to find a consistent pairing at the back, with Jose Mourinho constantly undermined by his side’s inability to keep clean sheets.

Romero could be one of Tottenham’s most expensive signings ever though, and his arrival would start to create real excitement ahead of the new season.
