Paulo Di Canio has claimed that he understands frustration from West Ham supporters about the club’s performances so far this season.
The Hammers sacked Manuel Pellegrini as manager midway through the campaign with the club sat just above the relegation zone in the Premier League at the time, but at present they are only above the bottom three on goal difference with David Moyes in charge.
It’s been a huge underachievement from the squad of players so far this year and they find themselves in a big relegation battle, albeit football has been postponed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.
Di Canio does feel that there is light at the end of the tunnel, as he’s convinced there is still big potential at the club going forward and has predicted they could push for a spot in the top eight.
“I can understand the frustration because it is obvious that everyone expected [better] when we moved to the new stadium,” Di Canio told talkSPORT.
“So with the fans I can understand their position, but I hope when the season starts again they get close – because everybody will lose if West Ham go down.
“West Ham have incredible quality and incredible potential for the future to finish top eight, because the club obviously spent big money in the past two years.
“It didn’t pay off, unfortunately, at the moment because we have many problems, but, in my opinion, the future will be green. Now is the moment to get unity and stay together.”

TBR’s View:
West Ham are stacked with a number of top-class individuals in the squad, but unfortunately too many of them haven’t shown up enough times this season and relegation is a real fear given their current situation.
It would be a disaster if they dropped back down to the Championship in their 60,000-seater stadium and they would surely lose the likes of Declan Rice, Felipe Anderson and many more.
They need to ensure they finish the campaign strongly whenever the football does return to action.
