‘Painful to watch’: Some Spurs fans lament Dier and Sanchez performances against Zagreb

Spurs crashed out of the Europa League this evening as Dinamo Zagreb saw them off to take a memorable 3-0 win against Jose Mourinho’s men.

The Premier League side were woefully out of form and even though Mourinho selected a strong XI and used all his subs, there was nothing to be gained from the game as they whimpered out of the competition.

Spurs fans were understandably fuming after the game and it was hard for them to find any positives in what was a dismal night at the office.

One of the things some Spurs fans pointed out on Twitter was the lack of leadership at the back without Toby Alderweireld. Among the criticism for the likes of Dier and Sanchez, some fans clearly felt the big Belgian defender was a huge loss this evening.

It’s clear that Dier and Sanchez are not the best partnership for Jose Mourino and some of the comments on Twitter from Spurs fans suggested they’d seen enough of that duo for a while at least.
