Pablo Mari is nearing a return from injury and his latest activity on social media could be a sign that the Spanish ace could pull on an Arsenal shirt again sooner rather than later – but could that be bad news for a frustrated teammate?
Mari, 27, joined Arsenal on a loan-to-buy deal in January and despite managing just three appearances for the Gunners – Brazilian website Coluna Do Fla stated that Arsenal chose to pay as much as £14million for the defender.
But since his permanent move, an ankle injury has prevented Mari from featuring more regularly. Now, the former Flamengo and Manchester City star’s latest activity on social media suggests he might finally add to his three Arsenal outings.
Back out on the training ground, Arsenal fans will be delighted to see Mari looking sharp and going through the paces – as will his teammates, apart from one. William Saliba has become frustrated at Arsenal, according to reports.
French side ButFootballClub state that 19-year-old Saliba is ‘tired’ of his situation – which has seen the France Under-20 ace fail to make a single senior outing since his move to north London in the summer of 2019. He wants to join St. Etienne on loan.
Saliba has only made the bench twice in 12 games this season, with Mikel Arteta preferring Gabriel, David Luiz, Shkodran Mustafi, Rob Holding, Kieran Tierney and Sead Kolasinac. Saliba has joined Sokratis on the fringes of the Arsenal side.
Now, Mari’s Instagram will strike a further blow to Saliba’s chances of senior game time. His only option should be to go out on loan in the coming months, with the January window approaching.
