Pablo Hernandez’s wife has taken to Twitter to appease the concerns of worried Leeds United fans over the player’s whereabouts since the Yorkshire club returned to pre-season training.

Leeds Live reported earlier this week what they had learned from the first couple of days of pre-season training, and that was that five of the club’s first team were missing.

Hernandez is the only one of the missing players not to have played international football this summer, with Gjanni Alioski, Mateusz Klich, Jamie Shackleton and Pontus Jansson still enjoying time off.

It could be that Hernandez has been given a bit longer to recover given his age, but Leeds fans are understandably worried that one of last season’s best players is yet to return. But his wife relieved the panic, stating he has returned.

TBR’s view – Hernandez like a fine wine for Leeds

Now 34 years of age, Hernandez is certainly coming towards the last handful of seasons in professional football. But with age comes maturity and more of a reliance on his intelligence instead of speed, and he showed it last season.

Like a fine wine, Hernandez arguably enjoyed his best campaign at Leeds since joining in 2016. He scored 12 goals and created 12 more for the Whites, proving to be their most effective creative source.

The former Spain international has 12 months remaining on his contract, and this may be his last chance at promotion and returning to the Premier League. Failure to go up this season may tempt him to leave.
