Pablo Hernandez surely holds the key to Leeds promotion outcome

With just two games in the Championship remaining, Leeds United could still end up in the automatic promotion spots if results go their way.

But the likelihood is that the Whites will need to lift themselves quickly for the play-offs and they can’t let such a promising campaign go to waste.

The Yorkshire giants need to try win games against Aston Villa and Ipswich Town first to see where they end up.

Marcelo Bielsa’s team have lost back-to-back games at the worst time in the season to mean automatic promotion is now out of their hands and it’s advantage to Norwich City and Sheffield United.

Leeds do have enough quality though to bounce back and Pablo Hernandez is the man that holds the key to the promotion hunt.

Hernandez has been outstanding for the Whites this season, scoring 12 goals and supplying 12 assists in his 37 league games.

The experienced 34-year-old has been at the heart of the team’s offensive play and quite simply when he’s on form the team are a better side.

He’s without a goal in his last five games and managed just one assist, which by his high standards this season is a drop off.

But if the Spanish attacking midfielder can reignite his best form then Leeds should fear nobody in the play-offs and he is a special talent in the Championship.

Leeds should feel they can get over the line for promotion if they have got their creative maestro in full swing.
