Kalvin Phillips has admitted on Instagram that he is desperate to get back playing and reunite with his Leeds United teammates as players edge closer to two months without football – and Jermaine Beckford has reacted to the midfielder’s post.
Phillips, 24, has been in stunning form for Leeds once again this season, anchoring the midfield and indeed the push to end Leeds’ 16-year wait for Premier League football. Unsurprisingly, Phillips has been linked with a move to the Premier League.
Under Marcelo Bielsa, Phillips has been altered into a holding midfielder after previously playing as more of a box-to-box player, scoring the odd goal. But Bielsa has brought the best out of Phillips in the number four role.
So much so, that Phillips has been linked with and England call-up, while a whole host of Premier League clubs have been linked. A Leeds boy at heart, though, Phillips stated on Instagram just how much he is missing pulling on a Leeds shirt.
Phillips, who has a contract at Leeds until the summer of 2024 at Elland Road, has been widely speculated as likely to leave this summer if the Whites fail to gain promotion – a similar case for manager Bielsa.
But with Leeds sitting at the top of the Championship with nine games to go, a place in the Premier League looks likely if the season resumes. Beckford recalled the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup in his response.
