Owen Hargreaves says West Ham have a truly 'unbelievable' player in their ranks
West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek has been described by Owen Hargreaves as an “unbelievable” player.
The Premier League icon also praised Hammers duo Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen as well as loanee Jesse Lingard for their efforts in 2020-21.
West Ham signed Soucek permanently last summer for a reported £19million following a successful loan spell at the London Stadium.
The former Slavia Prague man has been brilliant for David Moyes’ side, one of the key factors behind the club’s European finish this season.
Hargreaves, speaking on Optus Sport, praised Moyes’ efforts in steering West Ham to sixth in the Premier League table.
He then went on to single Antonio, Soucek, Bowen and Lingard for praise.
“(Moyes) turned them into that (Everton) mould where everyone had to work for the team,” he said.
“He had a lot of flair players… who didn’t do enough for the team… he looked at the personnel and said ‘these are the guys who are going to do it for him’.
“Antonio kicked in, Soucek was unbelievable, Bowen was great, Lingard played like one of the best players in the division.”
Soucek has played a pivotal role for West Ham this season, having helped to transform the team, and the plaudits are rightly heading his way.
With his contract taking him to 2024, Hammers fans will see a lot more of him in the coming seasons.
Moyes has work to do in bolstering his ranks to deal with the additional workload of the Europa League but the springboard is there for West Ham to kick on massively next term.
