Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson has been praised by Optus Sport pundit Owen Hargreaves for his “brilliant” interview after the Reds’ Premier League defeat on Wednesday night.
Jurgen Klopp’s charges fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Brighton at Anfield, which left them seven points behind table-topping Manchester City, who also have a game in hand.
Liverpool lost back-to-back games at Anfield for the first time since 2012, with Steven Alzate’s first Premier League goal enough to seal the Seagulls’ first win away against the Reds since 1982.

The Reds, missing a host of players, looked flat and lethargic against a lively and well-drilled Brighton outfit that fully deserved their victory.
In his post-match interview, Robertson said Brighton were the better team, while Liverpool were “hugely disappointing”.
And on the subject of the title race ahead of this weekend’s meeting with Man City, he said: “As this moment stands, we’re not in the title race.”
Liverpool legend Michael Owen agreed with Robertson’s comments and fellow Optus Sport pundit Hargreaves praised the 40-cap Scotland international for his honesty.
“They are going to have to win that game (against City to stay in the race),” said Hargreaves. “The bigger worry is just the way they are playing.
“That was a brilliant interview from Robertson, he was honest and that is why they were champions, why they are champions, why they won the Champions League because they set standards which they try and push every game.”
TBR View:
It’s been an incredibly unlucky season for Liverpool – any team would’ve struggled to remain in a title race with the amount of key absences the Reds have had, so credit to them for still being somewhat in contention.
Admittedly, a seven-point gap to the top, with the leaders also boasting a game in hand, is a tough ask, and Robertson is right to say that, as things stand, they’re not in the race – but depending on how things go on Sunday, that may change quickly.
