Former England and Manchester United midfielder, Owen Hargreaves, has been singing the praises of Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka after his efforts recently.

Saka has stepped up from the penalty spot in consecutive games against Chelsea and Manchester United to tuck his spot-kicks away. His overall performances have also been excellent, with the penalties the icing on the cake for the standout young Gunner.

Of course, we all know what happened with Saka in the summer with England. The Arsenal man missed against Italy in the final in heart breaking fashion. However, Hargreaves believes Saka deserves enormous credit for stepping up lately and putting those memories to bed.

“That young kid, after everything what happened in the summer with England and taking the penalty against Chelsea and now Manchester United, you’ve got to love that,” Hargreaves said on Premier League productions.

“For him to have the confidence to go and do that and get rid of that bad experience. People miss, it’s fine. Go and take the penalty. He’s always got a smile on his face, so credit to him.”

Saka has now scored 12 goals in all competitions this season and is among the contenders to be the young player of the year. The 20-year-old has become integral for the Gunners, and is one of the very first names on the team-sheet.

TBR’s View: Saka Keeps Getting Better For Arsenal

It’s quite amazing that Saka is still just 20. He plays with the maturity and poise of a player who has been doing the business for years at this level.

Worryingly for everyone else but in good news for Arsenal, is that he’ll keep getting better. He seems to have grown this season and the England experience might have done him the world of good.

Hargreaves is spot on with his praise here, and it’s good to see Saka thriving in an Arsenal shirt.
