Ovie Ejaria exit gives Kieran Dowell perfect chance to thrive away from Everton

This weekend saw Ovie Ejaria leave Rangers. The Liverpool youngster cancelled his loan spell at Ibrox as he reportedly struggled to handle the physical nature of the Scottish game.

The Liverpool youngster’s departure, however, could be great news for a current Everton player.

Rangers have been linked with a loan move for Everton playmaker Kieran Dowell in recent weeks. The England under-21 star is struggling for first-team football at Goodison Park and Gerrard has now admitted his admiration for the youngster.

“I definitely admire him. He’s an Under-21 international.

“He’s a player I admire but there’s not really anything else to say on that at the moment as he’s an Everton player.”

Dowell is clearly a player Everton boss Marco Silva has a lot of hope for. Incredibly talented technically, the midfielder has an eye for a pass, long-range shot and can evade tacklers with ease.

However, so far he has failed to take his opportunities when they have come at Goodison Park.

Heading to Rangers whilst Ejaria was still at Ibrox might have been counter-intuitive for the Everton star. He would have been competing with the player for a starting spot in the creative heart of Rangers’ midfield.

However, now the Liverpool youngster is back at Melwood, the opportunity for Dowell to be a star in Glasgow is clear. Everton should undoubtedly sanction this deal.
