Leeds United are knocking on the door of automatic promotion.
The Whites are on the cusp of breaking into the top two in the Championship this season, but they need to improve if they are to overhaul Southampton and Ipswich.
Luckily, the January transfer window is open, and Leeds have a chance to go out and sign new players to help get them over the line.
Speaking on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk Podcast, David Prutton has been discussing Leeds’ business this January and he’s named Connor Roberts and Ryan Giles as two signings that Leeds could make to get themselves over the line this season.

Giles and Roberts could help Leeds
Prutton shared his verdict on the two potential targets,
“The other teams, Leeds, again if you chuck in Connor Roberts and Ryan Giles, players who have performed at this level who aren’t getting a sniff at their clubs in Luton and Burnley respectively, you could transform the foundations of a team there that then gets you over the line,” Prutton said.
Problem positions
Whether it’s Giles and Roberts or two other players, it has to be said that Leeds’ full-back areas are their two problem positions.
Sam Byram can’t stay fit, Junior Firpo can’t defend brilliantly, while Archie Gray and Jamie Shackleton are naturally midfielders.
Leeds have two gaping holes at full-back right now, and if any business is to be done in this January transfer window, they need to bolster those wide defensive spots.
Leeds are so close to doing something exceptional this season, and with the right additions this month, they could take the promotion race by the scruff of the neck and push on to get back to the Premier League as soon as possible.
Giles and Roberts could be two fantastic signings for Leeds, that’s for sure.
