Arsenal take on Liverpool at Anfield this weekend and summer signing Aaron Ramsdale could prove his doubters wrong even more by equalling a 16-year-old club record.

A lot was said by some fans, pundits and the media when Arsenal forked out £24 million for the Englishman. Nobody was prepared to give him a chance, but Mikel Arteta trusted Ramsdale and he’s now delivering.

Bernd Leno was dropped from the side after the German conceded nine goals in his first three games. Ramsdale came in and the Gunners haven’t lost a single game in all competitions since.

The Englishman, labelled as ‘outstanding’ by Trevor Sinclair, can now achieve another impressive feat this weekend.

Aaron Ramsdale could equal 16-year-old Arsenal record this weekend

Ramsdale has played nine times for Arsenal so far and has conceded just four goals. He has kept six clean sheets in all competitions, including one in each of his last three away games in the Premier League.

That is a very impressive record for the 23-year-old, but things could get even better for him when Arsenal head to Anfield to take on Liverpool on Saturday.

A shut out against Jurgen Klopp’s men would mean that Ramsdale would’ve kept four consecutive away clean sheets in the Premier League. The last Arsenal player to achieve that in the top flight was Jens Lehmann in May 2005, over 16 years ago.

Arsenal’s record at Anfield has been absolutely horrendous in the Premier League over the years. The Gunners last won there in 2012, when Santi Cazorla and Lukas Podolski scored their debut goals for the club.

Mikel Arteta’s men look more confident than ever now. Arsenal are unbeaten in 10 games in all competitions and all their star players are in good form. Liverpool, on the other hand, are struggling with numerous injuries at the moment.

The Gunners won’t get a better chance to end their terrible run at Anfield. Ramsdale will have to play a big part if Arsenal are to get anything away from the game. Going by his recent form, it’s not beyond him to pull off a clean sheet, but it won’t be easy.
