Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli is now “firmly in the mind” of Mikel Arteta, according to Gunners legend Martin Keown.
Arsenal made amends for their heavy Premier League defeat to Liverpool last week by seeing off Newcastle 2-0 in Saturday’s early kickoff.
Following a goalless first half, the Gunners took the lead in the 56th minute when Bukayo Saka slotted home from Nuno Tavares’ through-ball.

Mikel Arteta’s charges then made it two just ten minutes later, Takehiro Tomiyasu crossing for Martinelli to volley home.
The 20-year-old had replaced Saka in the 64th minute after the England international came off with a knock.
Aside from taking his goal incredibly well, Martinelli looked a constant threat against the Magpies.
And Keown, speaking on BT Sport, was delighted with the Brazilian’s efforts on the day.

“That is a dream goal that he scores when he comes on,” he said, as transcribed by Metro.
“He really meant it and wanted it. I love it when I see young players come on and want to make a mark instantly.
“He’s had hardly any football but now he’s firmly in the mind of the manager, for sure.
“We talk about dream goal, intelligence, awareness, movement.
“The anticipation there, time and space and execution of the finish is truly outstanding.”
