‘Outstanding’: Gary Neville wowed by 25-year-old Arsenal man’s display from the very first minute against Manchester United

Sky Sports’ Gary Neville co-commentated on Arsenal’s game against Manchester United today and was wowed by Gabriel Jesus’ display from the very first minute.

Mikel Arteta’s men started the half slowly but thought they had taken the lead through Gabriel Martinelli.

But the goal was ruled out as VAR judged Martin Odegaard to have fouled Christian Eriksen in the build-up.

The Gunners soon found themselves behind after a debut goal from United winger Antony.

Yet, Neville was blown away by Jesus in the first-half and said the 25-year-old was the best player on the pitch.

Neville wowed by Jesus’ display

“Fantastic. He’s [Jesus] been really, really good from the first minute,” Neville said on Sky Sports in the 25th minute

The former United man then went on to praise Jesus and Martinelli just minutes later. But he singled out the former Manchester City man as the most outstanding player.

“Jesus in particular has been the outstanding player on the pitch,” he said.

“Absolutely brilliant he has been in this first half an hour.”

Jesus certainly put in a brilliant performance in the opening half as he caused Erik Ten Hag’s men some real problems.

One moment that summed up the Brazilian’s game is when he chased down a lost ball and dispossessed Lisandro Martinez.

But despite a decent first-half from Arteta’s men, they went into half-time 1-0 down at Old Trafford.

Arsenal did manage to get themselves back into the game in the second-half after Bukayo Saka finished excellently in the 59th minute.

But Marcus Rashford then put the Red Devils ahead once again just over five minutes later.

Arteta made some bold substitutions and his side eventually paid the price as Rashford grabbed his second goal of the game.

The Gunners suffered their first defeat of the season but will not be too disheartened after winning five games beforehand.

Arteta’s men will have to regroup and prepare for games against FC Zurich and Everton next week.
