Newcastle United fans have been left raving about West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice after their clash at St. James’ Park yesterday.

Impressive start

West Ham ran out 4-2 winners in what was a pulsating contest on Tyneside, after delivering a brilliant second half performance.

Newcastle actually started the game well, and Allan Saint Maximin bamboozled Rice in the first-half to set up the first goal of the contest.

But the England international quickly got a stranglehold on the match, as it progressed.

By the second half Rice was breaking up Newcastle attacks relentlessly, and his driving runs through the middle were also impressive.

Newcastle just couldn’t handle West Ham’s star midfielder.

And his display earned praise even from Newcastle fans on Twitter.

Rice really has grown into one of the finest defensive midfielders in the country at the London Stadium.

The 22-year-old looks all set to have a massive season for the Hammers, with his reputation growing exponentially after his excellent form at Euro 2020 with England.

West Ham’s impressive victory has increased optimism that they can repeat, or perhaps even better, last season’s feats this term, although it will be important that David Moyes is allowed to add to his squad before the end of the transfer window.
