Clinton Morrison has now been hailing the impact of Joe Willock as he returned to the starting line up for Newcastle United last night.

Morrison was talking on the BBC’s ‘5 Live Sport’ and thought that Willock made a huge impact on his Newcastle return.

The pundit was also very impressed with two young players, Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento.

It was a quite brilliant night for Newcastle as they comfortably beat Manchester United 3-0 and progressed to the next round.

And Morrison did think that Eddie Howe got his tactics right from the off.

Morrison said: “After the first 10 minutes they were the better team by a country mile.

“Eddie Howe got his tactics spot on.

“The two young boys in Hall and Livramento were outstanding.

“And credit to Joe Willock too, he’s been out a long time, and I thought he was outstanding.”

Of course, the result and the performance shouldn’t really be too much of a surprise in the context of this season.

Newcastle are performing very well, and Man United’s struggles have been well documented.

Morrison thought Willock was brilliant on his Newcastle return

Perhaps Joe Willock’s absence has been a little understated so far this season as well.

Sandro Tonali was forced into a lot of minutes immediately after signing, and Howe has had to lean on his whole squad.

However, having Willock back will be a big boost to Newcastle’s fortunes as Morrison suggests.

Moreover, it will please Newcastle fans to see two of their summer signings receiving praise too.

Both Hall and Livramento haven’t had a lot of minutes despite the big fees attached to their signings.

And despite that causing some concern, Newcastle have remained confident that they’ve signed two England internationals for the future.

Howe’s opposition on Saturday, Arsenal, fared slightly worse last night.

Mikel Arteta’s side endured a humbling 3-1 loss in East London, and will arrive at St. James’ Park with a point to prove on Saturday.
