‘Outstanding again’ – Sunderland fans thank Jon McLaughlin for earning them a point

Jon McLaughlin made some impressive saves.

Jon McLaughlin was voted as Sunderland’s man of the match in their League One draw against Luton Town.

In a fiery game between two high-flying teams, there was little to separate them and the match ended 1-1.

Chris Maguire opened the scoring for the Black Cats but a James Collins penalty levelled things up in the second half.

Danny Hylton was sent off for Luton and Maguire was dismissed in injury time to ensure the game ended with ten men on each side.

But Sunderland fans were thankful for having McLaughlin between the sticks as he helped keep Luton at bay.

The 31-year-old produced some exceptional saves and was voted as man of the match for his efforts.

McLaughlin was signed in the summer by Jack Ross and he has been consistent with his displays.

After watching Robbin Ruiter, Lee Camp and Jason Steele struggle last season, Sunderland fans are relieved to have a reliable goalkeeper in their squad.

Here are some tweets from Sunderland fans discussing the popular Scotsman’s performance.
