A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to praise Troy Parrott’s latest pre-season goal.
The 18-year-old, currently out on loan at Millwall, is one of the most highly rated youngsters to come through the Spurs academy in recent years.
Parrott was handed his Spurs senior debut in the League Cup by Mauricio Pochettino last season, as well as extending his contract at the North London club.
However, he has only made has four senior appearances for Tottenham, with Jose Mourinho resisting calls to give him more game time amid Spurs’ crisis up front earlier this year.
Earlier this month, Parrott sealed a season-long loan switch to The Den, following in the footsteps of Tottenham icon Harry Kane, who cut his teeth in Southeast London earlier in his career.
Millwall scored the least amount of Championship goals in the top half of the table last season and finished just short of the playoffs, hence the need for more firepower.
And with Parrott having netted two in the Lions’ last two pre-season games, things are looking up for both player and club.
In the 5-1 win over Bromley in midweek, Parrott netted what manager Gary Rowett described to the club media team post-match as a “fantastic finish”.
And today, in the 3-0 victory at Southend, the teenager latched on to Murray Wallace’s defence-splitting pass before lofting the ball over the opposition goalkeeper.
