Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has been lauded by BBC Sport pundit Alan Hutton following his impressive display against Everton.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds ran riot against their Merseyside rivals at Goodison Park on Wednesday night, with Mohamed Salah netting twice in a 4-1 win.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson opened the scoring in the ninth minute before Salah netted the second 10 minutes later.

Although Demarai Gray halved the deficit for Rafael Benitez’s side late in the first half, Salah got a third for the Reds after the hour.

Diogo Jota then added gloss to the scoreline with a wonderful fourth, a mix of skill and power as he beat his man and rifled into the roof of the net.

Thiago provided plenty of neat passes and kept Liverpool ticking, being one step ahead of every opposition player throughout.

And Hutton was impressed with the 30-year-old’s display, telling BBC Radio 5 Live (1/12, 21:52): “Some of Thiago’s movement, skills and vision is out of this world.

“He sees things that other people don’t – you think it’s a bad pass but he’s actually just a step ahead.

“He’s had a great night but what a player to bring on here in James Milner.”

Liverpool remain third in the Premier League table but are now seven points clear of fourth-placed West Ham.
