Ousmane Dembele finding form again so should Liverpool consider a January swoop?
Liverpool were being linked with a host of names to add some depth to their attacking options this summer. In the end, they snapped up Diogo Jota from Wolves and based on early evidence, it appears to be a masterstroke from the Reds.
But another player they reportedly considered is also impressing, so should Liverpool continue to keep track of him as well?
Ousmane Dembele has struggled with injury and form since making a mega-money £135.5 million (BBC) move to Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund.
That meant he was on the radar for plenty of teams in the summer including Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp is known to be an admirer of Dembele. When asked in a press conference in May 2018 whether he was interested in the forward, Klopp slipped on his usually non-compliant transfer rumour discussion stance.
“Oh, he’s on the market?” Klopp posited, as reported by talkSPORT. “Now I’m interested!”
No deal ever transpired, with Liverpool looking elsewhere, but the French winger is now threatening to find his best form once again.

Dembele scored against Juventus yesterday evening to continue his fine start to life in the Champions League this season. It takes his tally to two goals and one assist from his first two games in the competition and he appears to finally be getting over his hump.
Liverpool are currently looking strong in attack but one injury can change all that, just look at the defensive concern since Virgil van Dijk’s knee injury.
One injury to Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah or Roberto Firmino and Liverpool will be looking short in attack yet again.
According to a report from MARCA Dembele remains up for grabs in January and if an appropriate deal could be reached, Liverpool would surely consider the Frenchman as a final jigsaw piece in what looks to be an unpredictable Premier League season.
