Tottenham Hotspur fans have moved to praise Erik Lamela after his display in the Champions League for Sevilla last night.

Impressive start

Lamela only came on late on in the contest, but he was able to create two chances – as Sevilla drew 1-1 with Salzburg.

Nuno opted to use Lamela in a swap deal to bring Bryan Gil to Spurs.

But the Argentine has already started impressively in Spain.

And many Tottenham supporters have been left highly impressed with Lamela after last night, with one piece of skill in particular catching the eye.

How would Lamela have performed at Spurs?

If Lamela had remained at Spurs it is difficult to believe he would have started in Nuno’s system.

However, the winger could certainly have been a useful option for Tottenham from the bench.

Gil is yet to really make his mark at Spurs either, with the youngster yet to start in the Premier League.

The hope at Spurs is that Gil will adjust to his new surroundings sooner rather than later and then start to prove his worth.

But while Lamela continues to perform in Sevilla, Tottenham supporters are likely to continue to question whether it was the right decision to let him go.
