For many years now, Crystal Palace, Ozan Tufan and transfer windows have become almost synonymous with each other.
Back in 2018, the 63-cap Turkey international travelled to the airport ahead of a move to Selhurst Park.
However, as the 26-year-old told Goal, the Eagles then told him the deal was off after Bakary Sako was injured, and Alexander Sorloth was signed to replace him.
What did he say?
“Crystal Palace had showed a real interest in me a few years back and I nearly signed for them. We even had our plane tickets to England. But right before the day we planned to fly to England, Crystal Palace’s Sako got injured.
“The board had an emergency meeting and they decided to sign a replacement for him. So my move failed. They signed Alexander Sorloth instead of me.”
Since then, Tufan has continued to be linked with Crystal Palace. It was even said that Dougie Freedman submitted a bid at the start of the summer.

Now, the man likened to Yaya Toure has arrived in the Premier League, but with Watford instead of the south Londoners.
As a result, the Hornets could make Crystal Palace look rather foolish come the end of the season after they announced his arrival.
In what sense?
Well, if Tufan now excels in England, it wouldn’t be a great look for Crystal Palace’s recruitment team, who have dallied over signing the Turk for years now.
He must have something about him. It was said that Liverpool were scouting the diminutive midfielder, while Everton and Leicester are also believed to have submitted offers.

Evidently, Watford’s newest recruit has something about him which is attractive to Premier League outfits.
Will Watford be rewarded for taking the plunge and handing Tufan a contract?
Only time will tell.
