Arsenal academy defender Harry Clarke continues to impress on loan at Oldham.

The 19-year-old left the Emirates Stadium earlier this month to link up with the Latics, bottom of League Two when he arrived with 13 goals conceded in their opening five league games.

Clarke has made three appearances for Oldham so far, including starts in his last two games, and while they haven’t kept a clean sheet, their defence is looking more solid now.

The Gunners youngster played his part against Southend last night with one tackle, four interceptions and two clearances, as well as 42 passes with a 71.4 percent accuracy (Whoscored).

Oldham beat their opponents 2-1, Bobby Grant and Zachary Dearnley with the visitors’ goals, helping to take them to 20th in the table.

Here is what some fans made of Clarke’s display:

Clarke has been with Arsenal since 2015, when he joined the Gunners academy from hometown club Ipswich.

He signed his first professional contract with Arsenal in August 2018, and following an impressive season with the Under-23s, penned a new deal in December 2019.

More recently, the 6ft 2in gem captained Arsenal’s U21s against Crawley in their EFL Trophy win, and is also an England youth international.
