A number of Glasgow Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the news that Dave King has stepped down as Ibrox chairman.
On Friday evening, Rangers released a statement confirming that Douglas Park has been appointed as interim chairman of Rangers International Football Club PLC.
The Ibrox side also confirmed the appointment of John Bennett as Deputy Chairman of RIFC.
Johannesburg-based King first announced at the Rangers AGM in November that he would be giving up the role to focus on his business interests back in South Africa.
However, he has now had to leave his deputy in charge, announcing that a task team had been set up at Ibrox in wake of the current situation, while a new round of funding, which the board had been close to finalising, has been put on hold.
Many Rangers fans took to social media to thank King for his efforts since 2015, when he and his board took over the club from its previous ownership:
Thank you for everything you done to get our club back into the hands of the people that care about it the most.
You were Chairman we needed.
Thank you Dave King 👏🏻
