‘Our beast’ – Arsenal fans congratulate Lucas Torreira for winning the China Cup with Uruguay

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira helped Uruguay to victory in the China Cup 2019 during the international break.

Torreira came off the bench at half-time as Uruguay beat Thailand 4-0 to win the trophy.

Goals from Matias Vecino, Gaston Pereira, Cristhian Stuani and Maxi Gomez sealed a comfortable victory over Thailand for Torreira’s side.

This followed a comfortable 3-0 win over Uzbekistan as Uruguay cruised to victory and picked up the China Cup.

Arsenal fans’ joy was twofold: Torreira played his part to help Uruguay win the cup but only played 45 minutes to rest up for Monday night’s Premier League clash.

The 23-year-old has been in impressive form for Arsenal this season as he showcases his tenacity in midfield.

Since joining from Sampdoria last summer, the Uruguayan central midfielder has scored twice and provided two assists but his all-round game has been commended.

Torreira has become a popular figure among Arsenal fans, even earning his own song to support his performances in the centre of the park.
