Former Tottenham star Ossie Ardiles has been effusive in his praise of fellow Argentine Mauricio Pochettino, as per Sky Sports.
There has been talk for quite some time that Pochettino might leave for pastures new, but Ardiles expects the Spurs boss to stay for an extended period.
He said: “Pochettino is an absolutely wonderful manager so we cannot be in better hands to be perfectly honest. He works extremely hard, he’s a very, very honest guy, an honest manager, very good tactically.
“When you go there there’s a family atmosphere which he has created, so we cannot be in better hands. He’ll stay for a long, long time. There are two teams to beat – Liverpool and Manchester City – but we are one of the teams that can beat them. We are going to try and fight with them all the way.”
TBR’s View – Pochettino will only stay as long as Ardiles wants if the club matches his ambition
This season was supposed to see Tottenham kick on off the back of their run to the Champions League final but the opening weekends of the season have seen mixed results and the transfer business has not been as ruthless as some might have hoped.
Manchester United and Real Madrid are always going to be lingering, promising to give Pochettino a king’s ransom to spend in the non-negotiable pursuit of trophies.
That means that Tottenham must keep improving to keep Pochettino on side, happy and at the club for as long as Ardiles wants.
