Former Chelsea star Oscar believes that Enzo Maresca has signed a player capable of becoming the face of the football club in the future.
Over the years, many top stars at Stamford Bridge have been considered the face of the club, from John Terry and Frank Lampard to Eden Hazard and Didier Drogba.
However, a new player could be looking to take on that responsibility moving forward, and Oscar believes it won’t be Cole Palmer, but instead one of Maresca’s latest signings.
Chelsea splashed the cash once again during the summer, and while several of those new faces are still settling in, others have hit the ground running and proven they belong at that level.

Oscar believes new Chelsea signing Joao Pedro has a ‘good personality’
Chelsea signed a plethora of new stars during the summer, with the focus once again being on exciting young talent who have the potential to become big stars.
There is plenty of excitement surrounding Estevao Willian and Alejandro Garnacho, but Oscar has singled out Joao Pedro as someone he believes can become a big star.
During an appearance on the Obi One Podcast, the former Chelsea midfielder backed him to become a key player at the football club.
“I think he is. I think he is because, you know, he’s already in the Premier League. He knows how to score goals, and he knows, you know, how difficult it is to score goals in a small team in the Premier League.
“And he scored a lot of goals, a lot of goals for Brighton. Yeah, for Brighton. And now in Chelsea, every game he goes, he scores.

“He just arrived in the world-class club and scores a lot of goals in the Premier League. He already scores goals. So, you know, he’s strong. He can score with the head, the feet. So I like him.
“I like the way he plays, and I think he’s the player that is the face of Chelsea. I like the way he plays. He’s not a typical number nine.
“He fights. He has a good personality. Yeah. I like the way he plays. I really like him. Let’s see. I hope he can keep going this way, you know.”
Joao Pedro has hit the ground running at Chelsea
There’s a good reason Oscar is impressed with Pedro so far at Chelsea. The Brazilian has been delivering some impressive performances since joining the club.
Pedro wasted no time showcasing his capabilities during the Club World Cup, scoring three goals in as many games.
He has now taken that form into the 2025-26 campaign, as he already has five goal contributions for this season.

With Chelsea missing Liam Delap through injury, the pressure on Pedro’s shoulders has increased. However, he has proven that he’s ready to handle that, as the former Brighton man aims to be the club’s number one attacking threat.
