'Orta is the master': Some Leeds fans react to transfer news coming from Arsenal
Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to react after The Athletic revealed that Arsenal had agreed a £50m fee with Brighton for Ben White.
What’s the story?
Well, the Gunners have finally come to an agreement with the Seagulls over a deal for White, who spent the 2019/20 campaign on loan at Leeds.
Victor Orta submitted a £25m bid the following summer in an attempt to sign the 23-year-old permanently.
However, Brighton rejected all offers, and allowed White to make 36 starts in his debut season in the Premier League.
Now, it looks like he’s earned himself a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Should the £50m deal go through, White will find himself among the most expensive defenders in history, up there with Virgil van Dijk.
Victor Orta has reacted superbly
After seeing the aforementioned £25m bid rejected, Orta reacted superbly in the market.
As one fan below pointed out, Orta went on to sign Robin Koch and Diego Llorente, as well as Raphinha, for less than White’s £50m price tag.
Yes, it would’ve been incredible to have White back at Elland Road, after that quite mesmerising loan stint.
However, you can’t say Orta hasn’t done well to find alternatives.
Let’s see how the Leeds fans on Twitter reacted to the news about White heading to Arsenal…
So you’re telling me that we got Llorente, Koch and Raphinha for less than Arsenal paid for Ben White?— Adam (@Lufc1203) July 16, 2021

Unreal business. I'd still say Ben White has the most natural ability out of them all— christopher glenn (@gwansie) July 16, 2021
Love Ben White, but getting three players of that quality for the same money is great business for Leeds United— Gurj Sagoo (@judgeaknee) July 17, 2021
Obviously we'd all have loved Ben White but when you look at it in times of cash, it's been very prudent investment, more of the same please Orta !— Dave Duracell (@DaveDuracell) July 16, 2021
I'd prefer 1 great player who is always fit and with a bigger ceiling to grow, than 2 very good ones who are sometimes fit with less of a ceiling to grow.— ETHAN (@EthanFromOnline) July 17, 2021
Arsenal have significantly upgraded their best 11 and got themselves a player who will be at home in a CL team, bottom line.
Id still love Ben White at the club…— Paul Simpson (@paulsimpson1970) July 17, 2021
