The Athletic’s David Ornstein has been speaking about Arsenal and believes two players will be in line for contracts before William Saliba.
Saliba has been impressive this season and Ornstein already spoke about how the Frenchman won’t be in a rush to sign a new deal, given it’s taken him this long to make an impression anyway.

And while discussing Saliba’s contractual situation with the club, Ornstein also dropped in an interesting line about two Arsenal players who might even be above Saliba in the pecking order when it comes to getting fresh terms.
“One thing I might add is the priority for Arsenal in terms of contracts is Bukayo Saka. There are others who they’re going to be thinking about as well, like Gabriel Martinelli. So Saliba will of course come into that mix, but in the scale of priorities, his trajectory is relatively new compared to others that they want to tie down,” Ornstein said on the Five YouTube channel.
The Gunners have spent more than £200m in the last few windows to add sufficient quality to the ranks. However, getting their best players tied down to fresh terms will surely now be a priority.
TBR’s View: Arsenal Have Work To Do On Contracts
Getting new players in the building is always going to be the main job for Edu but now he surely must get on with tying down the Gunners’ best players. Among them are Saliba, Saka, and Martinelli.
Ornstein’s comments on Saliba in general are really interesting. He does hold the aces, but Arsenal fans will want to see Saka tied down more than anyone, given his importance to the team.
For now, Edu simply has to get to work and be ready to get deals over the line. The longer these sorts of thing tick by, the more complicated and nervy things can get.
