Optimism growing around Arsenal that a full agreement for ‘amazing’ summer target is about to be reached

Arsenal are one of several Premier League clubs who are yet to open their account in the summer transfer window.

None of last season’s top three have seen any major arrivals come through the doors inside the first month of the market.

Mikel Arteta is going into pre-season still yet to see any new faces land at the club as Arsenal continue to work on deals behind the scenes.

Interestingly, the Gunners find themselves pushing in the market to land a new third-choice goalkeeper.

Arsenal have already seen an offer of £50k rejected by Wolves for Dan Bentley and a bigger bid of £335k turned away by Ajax for Charlie Setford.

However, it has now been suggested that the Gunners are optimistic of landing a full agreement for one of their top tagetes soon.

Arsenal expecting to land full agreement soon for summer target

Although the Gunners are in the market to bolster their squad with depth this summer, they are also looking to add real quality.

And that can be seen in their pursuit of Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori.

Considering Calafiori agreed personal terms to a five-year deal with Arsenal last week, many would have thought the details between the clubs may have quickly followed.

However, that has been far from the case with the Gunners still locked in talks with the Serie A outfit.

According to Tutto Juve, the parties involved in the deal to bring Calafiori to north London are optimistic of reaching an agreement soon.

The report says it is only a matter of time before the two clubs find a resolution for the Italy international.

Bologna are still said to be looking for €50m (£42m) plus a percentage of a future sale with Arsenal so far putting forward €40m (£33.6m) and €10m (£8.4m) in bonuses.

Despite Arsenal not believed to be keen on the idea of a sell-on percentage, it is expected a compromise is going to be made over the coming days.

Arsenal expected to prevail to land ‘amazing’ Riccardo Calafiori

The fans are being made to wait for their first summer signing in north London, but if they are to make it Calafiori then the club will likely be forgiven.

In the Italian centre-back, Arsenal would be landing a defender who has been hailed ‘amazing‘ on the back of his displays at Euro 2024.

The 22-year-old has played a major role in Bologna’s recent success of landing themselves a spot in the Champions League for the upcoming season.

With this in mind, of course, the Italian side are not going to allow Calafiori to leave easily.

Bologna have already allowed Joshua Zirkzee to depart for Manchester United this summer so they will be looking for all they can get when losing one of their other top players.
