Opinion: Tottenham fans should be excited about possible Kulusevski debut
Tottenham Hotspur will be one of the most intriguing sides to watch in the coming weeks after an incredibly busy deadline day, that included the arrival of Dejan Kulusevski.
Spurs let several big-earners move on in some capacity. Meanwhile, Rodrigo Bentancur joined Kulusevski in joining Tottenham from Juventus on the final day of the window.
Bentancur has been away on international duty. So Spurs fans may have to wait to see the central midfielder in action for Antonio Conte’s side.
But Tottenham have received a boost ahead of their clash with Brighton in the FA Cup this weekend.
The Evening Standard has reported that Kulusevski has been granted a work permit. And he is in line to make his debut in the tie.
The Sweden international is set to train with the Spurs squad for the first time on Thursday.
Kulusevski has perfect opportunity to catch Tottenham fans’ eye with FA Cup tie
Given that the early rounds of the FA Cup are potentially less of a priority for Tottenham, it may be the perfect time to hand Kulusevski an opportunity.
It is hardly a gamble to hand the wide-man his debut. He has already featured in 20 Serie A games this season. So while he may need a little time to get up to speed with Conte’s system, he should be fit enough to play some part.
Kulusevski is also a player who can feature almost anywhere in the forward line. So there are a lot of ways for Conte to use him in the side against their Premier League rivals.
Tottenham follow the clash with Brighton with two important home games in the Premier League in quick succession. They should certainly want to take three points against Southampton. And they will fancy their chances of a good result against Wolves.
Having Kulusevski up to speed for those fixtures could be hugely beneficial. They will hope that he whets the appetite for what is come with his possible debut this weekend.
