Opinion: Levy and Conte would be a match made in hell as Tottenham continue manager search
Antonio Conte seems closer to being announced as the new manager for Tottenham Hotspur.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Italian is in advanced talks with the Lilywhites over the vacant role.
However, there are still some things to sort out before the former Internazionale man can be appointed. Romano is claiming that the 51-year-old is in talks over his contract, transfers, salary and more.
Whilst the conversations are being held, Conte posted a picture of himself on Instagram. The coach is currently on holiday after winning the Serie A title with Inter last season.
He left his role as manager of the club after a dispute over transfers with the owners.
Spurs have been looking for a new manager since Jose Mourinho was sacked back in April. The Portuguese man was let go just a few days before the Carabao Cup final.
If the latest reports are true than Conte could be mere days away from joining Spurs.
Back in May, the CEO Daniel Levy gave an interview outlining his vision for the club’s new appointment. In that interview, he claimed that he’d like an attacking coach who can bring through youth.
In that regard, Conte proves to be a woeful appointment. During his time with Chelsea, Juventus and Inter, the Italian has been blessed with both a great squad and a sizable transfer budget.
The north London giants have neither of those.
There remain question marks over Harry Kane with the squad already looking weak. If the England international was to leave that would just add further pressure on Conte in the transfer market.
Meanwhile, Conte has been known to clash with the board at club he manages. It occurred at Chelsea (2018), Inter and with Levy’s personality is sure to happen at Tottenham, in a match made in hell.
