'Only player I rate': Some Arsenal fans praise one man after 5-0 loss at City

Saturday was a miserable day for Arsenal and their fans, to put it mildly.

The Gunners went to Manchester City hoping to get their first points of the season.

Admittedly it was a tough ask, but if Arsenal delivered a good performance, anything was possible.

Except the Gunners delivered an absolutely woeful display and in the end were lucky to only lose 5-0.

Ilkay Gundogan opened the scoring for the hosts after just seven minutes and Ferran Torres doubled their lead on 12 minutes.

Arsenal then went down to ten men after Granit Xhaka got a red card for a two-footed tackle on Joao Cancelo.

And Gabriel Jesus added a third just before half time to end the match as a contest.

From then on it was a case of damage control for Arsenal but they failed at that too.

Rodri netted City’s fourth in the 53rd minute and Torres got his second of the match with six minutes left.

Very few Arsenal players emerged from the rout with any credit – one of those was Kieran Tierney.

The Scotland international provided a decent delivery in the opening minutes.

From then on, he was overrun by the opposition and could barely get forward.

However, Tierney showed passion and heart throughout, and at full time, he seemingly got his teammates to go over and applaud the fans.
