‘Only one Alfredo’: Rangers fans react as Alfredo Morales seals MLS move

Rangers fans have reacted with shock after Alfredo Morales sealed a move to the MLS.

It was confirmed on Wednesday night that the midfielder would link up with former Celtic manager Ronny Deila at New York City FC.

Morales has joined the American side on a three-year contract through the 2023 season with an option for 2024.

The 30-year-old was born in Germany, but has made 16 appearances for the USA’s international team due to his father’s American citizenship.

He’s spent three seasons at Fortuna Dusseldorf, who currently play in the Bundesliga 2, having begun his career at Hertha BSC and gone on to play for FC Ingolstadt.

Speaking on his club’s official website, Deila said: “It’s exciting to welcome in a player of Alfredo’s quality to NYCFC and he’s great addition to our midfield. He’s played over 200 professional games in Germany and shown his quality at a top level.

“Alfredo will bring a tremendous, hard-working attitude into our squad and is fighter and competitor that will help us improve from day one.”

The supporters below were clearly surprised after NYC FC announced their signing of Alfredo.

In other news, Alfredo Morelos is expected to return to the Rangers lineup for Sunday’s match against Hibs after sitting out the 4-0 victory over Cove Rangers.
