A year ago today it emerged that former Ajax youngster Boban Lazic was in trial at Leeds United. It seemed to be a good idea to take a look at the player, whose contract had just ended at FC Oss in the Dutch second tier.
The winger had pedigree. Bred in the Ajax youth system he came through the youth system with the likes of Davy Klaassen and Viktor Fischer.
His agent is Italian super agent Mino Raiola and he is a former Dutch youth international, although switched allegiance to Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2015.

All looks good on paper.
“I can already sign but I want to get to know the club and the coach (Thomas Christiansen) first. That’s why I’m going to train with them a few times first.”

Despite Lazic himself suggesting a deal was on the cards, the attacker never signed for Leeds.
So did Leeds miss out on a gem?
It would not appear so.
One year on and information on Lazic is sketchy but it appears he is not currently signed to any team. A report from VoetbalZone in February suggested he nearly joined Maltese side Hamrun Spartans in January, but they pulled out due to fitness concerns.
Hopefully the 24-year-old can find his way again soon with a new club. But as far as Leeds are concerned, it does not appear they are missing out.
