There’s no doubt that Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United squad could benefit from a boost in January, a new signing would be welcome.
United have endured a very inconsistent season thus far, with bad performances outweighing the good.

And although there’s very little talk of arrivals at Man United in January, ten Hag may have a surprise up his sleeve.
Although he’s showing a lot of promise, Rasmus Hojlund doesn’t quite seem ready to shoulder the burden of the club’s goal-scoring alone.
Anthony Martial is offering very little, and it seems he will now leave when his contract expires this summer.
That being said, journalist Ben Jacobs has now said to keep an eye on the future of one striker with Manchester United in mind.
Whilst inviting a Q&A on X, Jacobs responded to a question asking if there was any realistic prospect of United signing a player this month.
Jacobs thought an arrival was dependent on Martial leaving, but said Bayern Munich’s Choupo-Moting could be a serious option.
He said: “I think if (and it is an if) Anthony Martial was to depart then yes. I don’t see Sancho’s departure alone as guaranteeing an attack-minded incoming.
“I’d keep an eye on Bayern’s Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.”
Erik ten Hag could bring Choupo-Moting to Man United in January
34-year-old Choupo-Moting wouldn’t be a typical signing for a top Premier League side – but could he be a success?
Perhaps the Cameroonian could be the perfect player to help Hojlund in the short-term, but there’s no doubt that United should have bigger aspirations beyond this season.

A loan deal might be agreeable for all parties, however, some fans may still be disappointed.
Since the arrival of Harry Kane at Bayern, Choupo-Moting’s minutes have mainly been short cameos from the bench.
And given many United fans were actually keen to see Kane join ten Hag’s squad last summer, his backup arriving this January might not sit too well.
‘Incredible‘ Choupo-Moting probably would be an upgrade on Martial in the short-term, but there must surely be strong options available for United.
That being said, Gary Neville thinks United are still paying for a £60m mistake they made in the past.
