‘One of the signings of the season’: Darren Bent says £27m Arsenal player was such a bargain

Arsenal have done some brilliant transfer business over the past few years.

Signing Gabriel Martinelli for just £6m may go down as one of the best signings in Premier League history, while both Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko were inspired additions last summer.

However, it’s not just the starting players at Arsenal who are proving to be bargains at the moment.

Indeed, Leandro Trossard, once again, came up with the goods off the bench on Saturday against Chelsea, and speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Darren Bent has been full of praise for the Belgian, claiming that he looked like one of the signings of the season last term.

Trossard a bargain

Bent spoke about the £27m winger.

“Listen, Trossard has never sulked, he’s never thrown his toys out of the pram, but there were times last season where he made an impact, created opportunities, scored goals. I thought he was one of the signings of the season, he’s come into this season thinking he’s getting more opportunities, but he’s getting less,” Bent said.

Great buy

Trossard has been a fantastic purchase for Arsenal, and it’s an even better signing when you put it into context.

Indeed, let’s not forget, Arsenal’s alternative was spending over £80m on Mykhaylo Mudryk, a player who hasn’t had half of the impact at Chelsea that Trossard has had at Arsenal.

The Belgian is the perfect squad player. He can fill in anywhere across that front three, and he suits the Gunners’ style of play to a tee.

We can’t help but be impressed by Trossard’s impact at Arsenal so far, and we’d even go as far as to argue that he deserves more chances in the starting XI going forwards.

Trossard was certainly a brilliant signing in January.
